At the meeting, Mayor Whitney emphasized that domestic violence, once hidden behind closed doors, is now recognized as a serious crime in Alaska with lasting impacts on survivors, families, and communities.

“Stopping this cycle of violence requires not only the resolve and courage of survivors but also support and involvement from all of us,” Mayor Whitney stated.
