(CNN) - A statue featuring President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which popped up on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, has been taken down.
The statue depicts Trump and Epstein holding hands and skipping.
It included a plaque that read, “In honor of Friendship Month, we celebrate the long-standing bond between President Donald J. Trump and his closest friend Jeffrey Epstein.”
The statue was put up by a group called “The Secret Handshake,” and it comes during a push to release files related to the Epstein investigation.
A permit gave the statue permission to stay up on the National Mall until Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Department of the Interior said the statue does not comply with the permit it was given.
