A grass fire that broke out Thursday along Highway 74 in Good Hope charred less than a half-acre before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:05 p.m. on the southbound side of the highway, just west of Ellis Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate to the east across open space.
Firefighters quickly deployed hose lays and halted the brusher’s forward rate of spread by 12:20 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
They were expected to complete mopping up by 1 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
