All Creatures Great and Small season 6 is back on Channel 5 and episode one takes place in May 1945, when victory in Europe is declared.

Helen Herriot (played by Rachel Shenton) is enjoying time with her children Jimmy (Thomas Riches) and Rosie (Arlie and Autumn Doyle) but has big changes at Heston Grange to contend with.

The series is based on the real life of Yorkshire vet Alf Wight, who used the pen name James Herriot to write his timeless books.

The real Alf Wight did in fact have a son called Jimmy and daughter called Rosie (full name Rosemary), and the real Rosie Page said she was "very excited" about the Channel 5 adaptation of her father's books.
