Fans of All Creatures Great and Small were left saying the same thing on Thursday night as a new series of the Channel 5 show began.

The beloved period drama kicked off with a time jump as viewers were informed the residents of Darrowby were now in 1945, as the war was coming to an end.

This also meant that James Herriot (played by Nicholas Ralph), who recently teased that there were drastic times ahead, was now a dad of two.

The opening moments saw him greeting his son playing at the farm, who was last seen on-screen as a baby, viewers also got to meet his toddler daughter, Rosie.
