Days after Donald Trump labelled Antifa as a domestic terrorist organisation, eagle-eyed social media users have spotted something amiss.

On Threads, a social media platform owned by Meta, which also operates Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, a warning label about users being ‘associated’ with Antifa has appeared.

Simple posts, including one seen by Metro, reading, ‘I am drinking a matcha in midtown Manhattan! Let’s go!!!’ has now been accompanied by a confusing label.

Below the normal post is a message reading ‘This user is suspected of being part of a terrorist organisation called Antifa. Please report any suspicious behaviour.’

A Meta spokesperson told Lifehacker in a statement that the label was ‘just a meme’ and not created by Meta, but the labels have still sparked confusion.
