A commercial warehouse cluster is the second East Central Neighborhood site to be included in the National Register of Historic Places, the city of Fort Wayne said Thursday in a news release.
Located in the 400 block of East Brackenridge Street, the Pennsylvania Produce Terminal Historic District was built from a design by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1929 as four fresh produce warehouses combined in one unit, the release said.
Another warehouse was built in 1925, likely in anticipation of the larger project, the release added. It noted Alvin M. Strauss of Fort Wayne was the architect.
The property now houses MKM architecture + design. The firm adapted the oldest warehouse into its new offices with support from the federal rehabilitation tax credit program, the release said.
