LANSING, Mich — A Michigan-based law school that was once one of the largest in the nation has been put on probation by the American Bar Association (ABA).

Cooley Law School, with campuses in Lansing, Mich. and Riverview, Fla., received notice of the probation in August, with the probation going into effect on Sept. 19, 2025.

The probation notice comes after the law school has continually failed to comply with a standard of 75% of students passing a bar exam within two years of graduating, which is known as Standard 316. The school has not seen a 75% two-year bar passage rate since before 2017.
