DRAPER, Utah (ABC4) — Draper City has announced tax rates will decrease for residents this fiscal year due to the city missing a requirement related to a Truth in Taxation Hearing held in August.
The Truth in Taxation process is a state-mandated public hearing to inform the public about proposed property tax rate increases for the upcoming year.
During their hearing in August, Draper City proposed maintaining the same property tax rate after paying off a bond debt. According to the City, "This action would help with rising operating costs due to inflation."
However, Draper City missed the state requirement to include the county's list of all entities seeking a tax increase in the City's presentation during the hearing.
