AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A public hearing was held Thursday at the Augusta-Richmond County Municipal Building on a possible hotel coming to the 1100 block of Broad Street.

A note posted on the building confirms demolition and construction of a new hotel.

If approved, it could go next to the Augusta Candle Co. and right across the street from Garden City Social Nightclub.

This isn’t the first time the property located at 1140 Broad Street has been discussed.

At a meeting on Nov. 18, 2021, the Historical Preservation Committee was petitioned for approval to demolish the three structures , with an ultimate plan to redevelop the property into a seven-story hotel concept.
