OELWEIN, Iowa (KCRG) - Errors by filing officers in several Iowa counties mean dozens of candidates for this fall’s city-school elections won’t appear on the ballot.

In a statement from the Iowa Secretary of State’s office, filing officers in seven counties failed to meet deadlines, with the Oelwein school board being one of them. Seven people in that area turned in the proper paperwork to run for school board, but those errors mean their names won’t be on the ballot this November.

“The school district, our board secretary failed to turn in the candidate paperwork for the seven folks that lawfully turned in candidacy paperwork for our open seats for our school board for the upcoming election,” said Oelwein Community School District Superintendent Josh Ehn.
