Santa Fe Public Schools has placed its two top security officials on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Mario Salbidrez, executive director of safety and security, and Mark Lewandowski, deputy director, were both placed on leave Sept. 17, district spokesperson Tara Melton confirmed in an email Thursday.
They are still being paid, Melton added. She declined to give further information about the investigation, noting the issue is a personnel matter.
The investigation into Salbidrez and Lewandowski, both former Santa Fe police officers, comes amid a renewed focus on school security following multiple lockdowns this month.
