BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) -- The city of Bluefield has gained its first licensed D.A.R.E. Instructor to provide information about substance abuse and its consequences to the kids of the city.

D.A.R.E. Stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education and began focused on preventing drug misuse, gang involvement, and violence in children and teenagers.

After a brief lapse in the program, the city of Bluefield is bringing it back thanks to Sergeant Amanda Moore of the Bluefield Police Department.

Sgt. Moore said this is something she's wanted to do since she began her career in law enforcement.

"So, my goal for the first visit is to make a great impression. We already do a lot at the schools with Operation Juicebox, and of course, we have the Cop-Sicle Truck, so a lot of the kids know us. So, I just
