When Francisco Lindor went deep in the third inning at Wrigley Field Thursday night, it was a consequential homer for both the Mets and baseball at large. Lindor became the fifth player this year to reach 30 homers and 30 stolen bases, the most in a single season in MLB history.
Lindor joined his teammate Juan Soto, Corbin Carroll, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and José Ramírez in this year's 30/30 club. Soto is probably the most surprising member, considering he'd never stolen more than 12 bases in a season but has racked up 36 this year.
It's only the third time that two teammates have put up a 30/30 season, with Lindor and Soto joining Dante Bichette and Ellis Burks of the Rockies in 1996 and Howard Johnson and Darryl Strawberry of the Mets in 1987.
