Amid criticism over the TMC government’s handling of the Kolkata flooding situation, in which at least 11 people were killed, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday lashed out at her critics for “indulging in politics over death”, asserting that her government acted promptly and would continue to stand by the affected families.

Inaugurating the popular Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja in south Kolkata , she said: “There are always some people who only want to spread negativity and criticism. Do not listen to them. Even though I face abuse every day, I continue to work relentlessly.”
