BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - What does the future of education look like in the state of Vermont? Leaders in the industry gathered at Champlain College on Thursday to discuss what their vision looks like.

“We have a small state, declining enrollment, we have an aging population, we have old, old buildings,” said Senator Martine Guilick, D-Chittenden.

We’re going to need a lot more money, and we’re already millions short. That’s the consensus from education decision makers who say they’re worried about the future of Vermont’s schools.

“Our institutions first have to survive the next few years,” said Winooski Superintendent Wilmer Chavarria.
