SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- An organization dedicated to helping children in need overcome and achieve hosted a special event Thursday in downtown Sioux Falls.

Hundreds of people made their way to the Holiday Inn City Centre Thursday morning for the Hope in Action breakfast in support of a local nonprofit, Abbott House.

"We work with kids that have come from abuse, neglected backgrounds and our goal is really to give them a new shot at life," Abbott House Executive Director Eric Klooz said.

Executive Director Eric Klooz says Abbott House started as a residential treatment program for girls, which led to a need for foster care.
