SOUTHWICK — The state’s Department of Agriculture Resources confirmed Tuesday that it discovered an infestation of the invasive insect known as the spotted lanternfly.
“A survey team was following up on a report that came in to us at the beginning of September, and confirmed that the insects were present. We do not yet know the full extent of the infestation — only a preliminary survey has been done so far,” said Jennifer Forman Orth, an environmental biologist with MDAR in an email alerting the town.
