Amber Davies has signed up to replace Dani Dyer on this year's Strictly Come Dancing. The musical theatre star has joined the dancing show at the last minute to replace fellow former Love Island contestant Dani, who had to withdraw before the first live show after fracturing her ankle. Despite having significantly less rehearsal time than the other celebrity contestants, Amber will perform her first dance - a waltz - with her professional partner Nikita Kuzmin on Saturday night's show. "This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life," she said in a statement. "I've watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true. I'm going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud." In the comments of the BBC's official announcement, Strictly judge Shirley Ballas and professional dancers Gorka Marquez, Nancy Xu, Amy Dowden and Karen Hauer all welcomed Amber into the Strictly family. Fellow musical theatre star Layton Williams, who was partnered with Nikita for the 2023 series, wrote, "I actually cannot with thissssss! So gassed for you... Not Nikita getting another theatre kid tehe (sic)." Dani and Nikita have yet to publicly comment on the news. While the 28-year-old hasn't had much time to practice her first routine, she is a trained dancer with plenty of musical theatre experience. Since winning Love Island in 2017, she has gone on to star in stage productions of Pretty Woman, 9 to 5: The Musical, and The Great Gatsby, as well as compete on Dancing on Ice. Earlier this week, it was announced that Amber will play Elle Woods in a new touring production of Legally Blonde from February 2026.
