LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a recent phone scam involving a caller impersonating a law enforcement officer.

According to officials, the scammer claims to be Sergeant Doyle from the Sheriff’s Office and reportedly speaks with a southern accent.

Authorities are reminding the public that no law enforcement agency will ever call to request money or to notify individuals about warrants.

Residents who receive suspicious calls are urged to hang up immediately and report the incident to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.
