Future phases of a major housing development are now secure after the collapse of a construction company threatened to derail the project.

Medway Council has agreed a new financing deal for the Rochester Riverside development to ensure the scheme is delivered on time.

It comes after unexpected costs of £6.6m were incurred during an earlier phase of the project involving the building of Rochester Riverside CofE Primary School.

Plans were changed to increase its capacity from one class per year to two classes per year.

But, in June 2022, the contractor responsible for building the school, Mid Group, went into insolvency when it was only partially constructed.
