LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Jefferson County jury finds Keyshaun Stewart guilty of murder, but mentally ill, in the shooting death of a Louisville road construction worker : injury of an off-duty LMPD officer.

There was an emotional moment in the courtroom as the judge read the jury's verdict. Anita O'Bannon, the mother of the late Fred O'Bannon Jr., broke down in tears both inside and outside the courtroom when she felt justice was served for her son.

Stewart shot Fred O’Bannon Jr., 37, a father of five who worked for Louisville Paving and Construction, while he was sitting in his truck during an overnight shift along Interstate 264 at the Dixie Highway exit. Authorities said Stewart was originally attempting a carjacking.
