A retired Huntsville Police officer and former Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers liaison, 60-year-old Charles Nickelson, has been indicted and arrested following an investigation by the Alabama Attorney General's Office, according to Huntsville Police.

Madison County Jail records show Nickelson was arrested Thursday but was released later the same night on a $10,000 bond. Authorities have not specified what exactly he has been charged with, but WAAY 31 is reaching out to officials with more questions and will provide updates as we receive them.

Although Huntsville Police have not specified Nickelson's charge(s), they say discrepancies were identified in the accounting of the Crime Stoppers account, which is managed by the non-profit organization, after Nickelson's retirement in August 202
