A former Huntsville police officer has been indicted in connection with his role as coordinator of Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers after a months-long investigation, according to a statement from Attorney General Steve Marshall.
Charles Nathan Nickelson, 60, of Madison County, is charged with one count of using his office for personal gain, a Class B felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison. The indictment alleges Nickelson used his position to take as much as $25,525 that belonged to Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers. Nickelson retired from HPD in August 2024.
