Starbucks is gearing up to close hundreds of stores across the U.S., and a handful are on the chopping block in Minnesota.
The Seattle-based coffeehouse chain has not circulated a list of stores that are slated to close, but Bring Me The News used Starbuck's online store locator to identify all the Minnesota locations listed as being closed daily after Saturday.
At least seven Starbucks stores appear to be closing statewide over the weekend. Half of them are in Minneapolis, and only one is outside of the Twin Cities.
Starbucks announced Thursday that it's closing roughly 500 stores in the U.S. and Canada and laying off 900 non-retail employees as part of a turnaround effort. The company also will redesign more than 1,000 locations in the next year.
