MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The city of Myrtle Beach is getting ready for any possible impacts from a tropical system.
In a Friday news release, the city announced Mayor Brenda Bethune signed a Declaration of Civil Emergency.
This comes as tropical impacts from developing Imelda are looking likely next week for the Carolinas.

The city said that with the measure, it can act quickly if a storm threatens or causes damage to the area.
The city can now activate emergency powers, such as curfews, aid in evacuation, waive fees, speed up procurement needs and provide disaster recovery assistance.
