SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - The Houston River Fire Department says a mobile home north of Sulphur is a total loss after an early morning fire.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 200 block of East Jim Pickens Rd. this morning around 5:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they estimated that the mobile home was already approximately 30% to 40% on fire, and crews worked quickly to bring it under control. While the fire was extinguished, the home was ruled a total loss.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire; however, one dog died in the blaze. Two other pets were able to escape.

The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the homeowners, and the State Fire Marshals Office is working with the Houston River Fire Department to investigate the cause. At this time, the department says it ha
