GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Former Husker, coach and pizzeria owner Matt Vrzal has died, according to multiple reports.
Vrzal was 51 years old.
1620 The Zone shared the passing of their friend Matt Vrzal, writing, “His passion for sports, his honestly, & his humor connected him with his customers & Zone listeners in a way that few ever could.”
Vrzal, originally from Grand Island, was the owner of Piezon’s Pizzeria in Omaha. He also had served as a coach and radio host, being a frequent guest on many radio shows talking sports.
Vrzal is also known for his time as a Cornhusker . He had walked on at Nebraska in 1992, where he was a part of two Nebraska National Championship teams in 1994 and 1995.
Before going to Nebraska he made his mark at Grand Island Senior High.
