KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, therapy is giving children on the Autism spectrum the chance to live a typical life, but after rising costs the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is cutting how much it pays for Medicaid patient’s treatment, creating uncertainty for patients and providers.

At the age of three, Cassandra Anders’ son, Milo, was diagnosed as on the Autism spectrum.

“It took a little bit to get him a diagnosis,” Anders said. “There’s kind of a lot of hoops that you have to jump through.”

After getting Milo diagnosed, he was enrolled at Lighthouse Autism Center in Kearney.
