ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is urging outdoor enthusiasts to prioritize safety this fall as hunters, anglers, and off-highway vehicle (OHV) riders enjoy the season. “These next couple months are the highlight of the year for many people,” said Col. Rodmen Smith, director of the DNR Enforcement Division. “Whether you’re fishing, hunting or riding an off-highway vehicle, opportunities to enjoy the outdoors are abundant. But people need to remember that no trip is a success if it doesn’t end safely.” This year, there have been zero firearms-related hunting fatalities, five boating fatalities, and 16 OHV-related fatalities.
