VARKALA: Many candidates were unable to appear for the PSC exams for the Pharmaceutical Corporation and Ayurveda Medical Education departments due to the rain and waterlogging.

The candidates faced difficulties as buses, autos and taxis were not available to reach the examination centres as the roads were waterlogged due to heavy rains. Although the exam centers were within Thiruvananthapuram city, many could not reach the exam center on time as the main roads were submerged in water. Candidates who arrived late were not allowed to enter the centre. Many returned without writing the exam. Fatima Zulfikar, a native of Edava Kappil, said in frustration that, despite walking for hours, she could not reach the exam centre before the exam started as there weren't any vehicles.
