MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Republican Bill Berrien has dropped out of the race for governor, his campaign announced on Friday.
According to a statement from his campaign, Berrien said he decided to drop out out after two Milwaukee Journal Sentinel articles were published. He said these articles were “clearly targeted” to force him out of the race.
Berrien said he plans to donate his funds from his Never Out Of The Fight PAC to help support the Republican team in Wisconsin.
He wrapped up his statement by thanking his family, and donors for their support.
On the Republican side, Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann and U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany have launched their bids.
On the Democratic side, state Sen. Kelda Roys, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez
