Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Mike Vrabel shared the news on Friday afternoon, saying that Williams has begun treatment and meeting with specialists. The coordinator was dealing with a health issue during OTAs and minicamp this spring and has again been sidelined since Week 1.
“You know how much Terrell means to me personally and to the people on this football team,” Vrabel said. “So we want to send our regards publicly and let everybody know that’s what he’s dealing with... he’s been through a lot and we care about him.”
In Williams’ absence, inside linebackers coach Zak Kuhr will continue calling the defensive plays. On Thursday, Kuhr said Williams is still a major piece of the Patriots despite not calling the defense on game
