MT. VERNON — It may have taken until their last year in the conference, but the Centralia Orphan Annies won their first girls conference championship Thursday at Green Hills Golf Course in Mt. Vernon.

The tournament came down to the wire, and even went past the wire, in a sense. Centralia and Marion were tied at 363 at the end of the day, forcing the teams to use their No. 5 golfers’ scores to decide the winner.
