MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Governments and organizations across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee are keeping an eye on the tropics.

As of writing, tropical impacts from a tropical system are looking likely next week for the Carolinas.

Here’s a look at the preparations so far:

MYRTLE BEACH:

The city of Myrtle Beach is getting ready for any possible impacts from the system.

In a Friday news release, the city announced Mayor Brenda Bethune signed a Declaration of Civil Emergency.

The city said that with the measure, it can act quickly if a storm threatens or causes damage to the area.

The city can now activate emergency powers, such as curfews, aid in evacuation, waive fees, speed up procurement needs and provide disaster recovery assistance.
