HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTV) - Horry County in South Carolina, which is home to popular tourist destination Myrtle Beach, issued a state of emergency on Friday as a tropical system looks to develop.

A state of emergency was issued on Friday, Sept. 26 for Horry County, located on the northeastern coast of South Carolina. The city of Conway, also located within the county, and North Myrtle Beach also issued their own states of emergencies, according to WBTV’s sister station WMBF .

The announcements came as a potentially impactful tropical storm looked to develop in the Atlantic Ocean. The would-be storm could bring rain, wind, and flood risks to the Carolinas early next week.
