Good news for Wilmington taxpayers.

The deadline for city tax payments was extended to Oct. 31, which is an extra month from the first extension of Sep. 30, putting the due date almost two months after the original Sept. 2 deadline.

The extension is, at least in part, because of a man at Mayor John Carney's Sept. 25 press conference . The man, who was not a member of the media, asked Carney why the city's tax deadline did not match the Nov. 30 deadline for county and school district taxes. The mayor was receptive to his idea, saying it was a fair question.
