NEW YORK (PIX11) – Starbucks announced Thursday that it plans to close hundreds of stores and lay off staff by the end of the week as part of a turnaround strategy. PIX11 News has learned that at least one store in New York City is likely to be affected.
Upper West Siders at 70th and Broadway learned their Starbucks will be shuttering its doors, according to a Reddit post. A PIX11 staff member also verified that a closing sign had been posted on the front door of the location.
A sign on the door reads:
“We’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close this Starbucks location by the end of the week,” it states. The message continues, “Thank you for being a part of our story. We look forward to seeing you again.”
