Surrey city council approved a $33.3 million contract on Monday related to the construction of a third sheet of ice at the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex.
City manager Rob Constanzo, in a report that came before council on September 29, notes the addition will add 334 fixed seats, a multi-purpose room, community space, officials’ rooms, change rooms, dedicated space for a junior hockey team "and other supporting amenities.
Costanzo says the project is designed to meet "the highest" engineering and accessibility standards" and will increase "the availability for various programs including ice hockey, figure skating, public lessons, skating sessions and dry-floor summer use for sports, such as a lacrosse and ball hockey."
