WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WJBF)- Saturday marks 365 days since one of the worst storms in the CSRA's history.
They call Waynesboro the bird dog capital of the world—but one year after the hurricane, it’s the same place where people like Jeff Phillips are still recovering.
“We were building a house when it hit. On the new land, I’ve still got trees down that have to be cleaned up. The farm that my daughter lives on, they lost giant oak trees," said Phillips.
The storm leaving behind $22 million in damage countywide, and close to 1 million cubic yards of debris.
Burke County EMA says the biggest challenge was clearing debris off of roadways.
“One of the first areas that was cleared was by the National Guard, and it was the evacuation routes from Plant Vogtle. Just the time it took to clear those
