JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Police said a Jerome man attempted to burn down his family’s house before attacking family members while they tried to put out the fire.
Miguel Marquez, 36, faces one felony count of first-degree arson, according to court documents. He also faces two misdemeanor counts of battery, as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting or obstructing officers.
An affidavit from the Jerome Police Department revealed that the attempted arson occurred at a house along East Avenue H on Sept. 15. A family member told police they woke up to the sound of smoke alarms and traced the smell back to Marquez’s bedroom.
