Strictly Come Dancing veteran Oti Mabuse has defended Amber Davies replacing Dani Dyer on the BBC show amid backlash over the Love Island star’s prior dance experience.

West End performer Davies was announced as Dyer’s replacement after she was forced to bow out of this series due to a fractured ankle.

Davies, 28, first soared to fame on Love Island in 2017 and has since gone on to appear in a variety of stage productions, including 9 to 5, Pretty Woman and Back To The Future.

She will compete with Dyer’s professional dance partner Nikita Kuzmin – but her inclusion in the cast has already prompted mixed reactions, given her stage background.

Amid the response, former Strictly pro and Dancing on Ice judge Oti Mabuse has jumped to her defence in a new TikTok video.
