ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Shea Fowler told 7 NEWS she planned to ride out Hurricane Helene at her home with her dog when she got a phone call from her husband. He was headed home her way when he said he had a bad gut feeling.
"I'm in my pajamas. It's 8 p.m.," Fowler explained. "I've got a stew going, and he's like, 'I just something's telling me... God's telling me, let's pack things up for the night.'"
So she listened.
"He said, 'If the house is there tomorrow, we'll do soup tomorrow.' And so I met him at the hotel and woke up the next morning to find out that the house was gone."
A tree split her family's home in half. Their house, condemned.
"The things that we thought we could salvage, we couldn't," Fowler said.
