BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - FIRST ALERT FOR A NEW TROPICAL SYSTEM : We now have the first advisory for the next potential tropical system near the Bahamas. Further east of this system, Humberto is a powerful category three hurricane and expected to grow into a category 4. This system will remain far from the East Coast. However, it could have an influence on the path of the next system.

We expect Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 to become Imelda and there is lots of model agreement on a possible landfall in South Carolina on Monday or Tuesday, as a strong tropical storm or category one hurricane. As the system nears the coast, the interaction with an upper trough and Humberto could weaken the system, but there will still be lots of rain in the region that could result in flooding. This do
