GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Congressman Tony Wied is urging the federal government to reopen a permanent DEERS/RAPIDS site in Green Bay.
This site gives active duty, reservists, veterans, and their beneficiaries a place to get military identification cards and learn about benefits.
There’s only one DEERS/RAPIDS facility in northeast Wisconsin, and it’s in Appleton, operated by a member of the Wisconsin National Guard who’s on temporary orders.
Congressman Wied wants to make sure that’s not the only one in our area.
These military IDs get people access to military bases, travel benefits like TSA Pre-Check, and more.
Congressman Wied tells us he believes there should be a central location for veterans and their families to get their IDs, and he believes Green Bay is the best place for that
