JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman killed Wednesday night in what Birmingham police described as a domestic-related homicide as 40-year old Denise Tolbert of Birmingham.
Tolbert’s family is absolutely devastated; CBS 42 spoke with the victim’s oldest sister Monique Tolbert on Friday morning. She said her sister was a Parker High School graduate who worked at Top Golf and was a beloved auntie to ten nieces and nephews. Tolbert described what it was like getting the “worst phone call” Thursday morning.
“My daughter screaming to the top of her lungs that her auntie was dead,” she explained. “I was trying to figure out which auntie she was talking about, once she said ‘Denise’ my heart stopped.”
