SUMTER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- The bodies of a missing mother and child were found in Sumter County during a multi-agency investigation, according to the Hinds County, Mississippi Sheriff's Office.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation, Aviation Unit and Marine Patrol Division are involved in the investigation, as well as the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, the Jackson Mississippi Police Department, the MBI, and the FBI's Jackson and Birmingham field offices.

According to ALEA, the investigation started on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Shardee McGill, 32, as well as her child, were last believed to be in Jackson, Mississippi on Sept. 21, according to information provided by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI).
