DEATSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) -- A man was killed in a car accident in Alabama this week, over a decade after his wife was found dead in a presumed car crash after having gone missing for months.

Matthew Palmgren, 54, was killed Wednesday when the truck he was driving left the road and overturned. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, he was travelling along Alabama Hwy. 111 outside Wetumpka when he crashed.

Palmgren had lived in Wetumpka for years, but was better known for the years he had spent in Signal Mountain, Tennessee near Chattanooga with his wife, Gail, and their children. After April 30, 2011, the Palmgrens became the center of local attention after Gail mysteriously went missing. Seven months later, her remains were found in a crashed Jeep near their home in Signal Mount
