PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon’s top Democratic lawmakers and immigrant advocates pushed back on Friday against President Trump’s portrayal of Portland as violent, highlighting concerns about due process and legal access at the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.

Meanwhile, there were rumblings that afternoon that Trump's threats of a federal surge in Portland may finally be coming to fruition.

U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, along with U.S. Representatives Suzanne Bonamici and Maxine Dexter, spent nearly 90 minutes touring the Portland ICE facility this week. They said they wanted to see how the system worked, and that the visit raised troubling questions about ICE policies and practices .
