AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department hosted a community walk on Friday to raise awareness about mental health in law enforcement.

According to officials, law enforcement officers face stressful and critical situations that can take a toll on their mental health.

"Officers are human and they carry a lot of weight with the public, especially as they go on further into their careers," Amarillo Police Department Public Information Office, Corporal Carmela Ogden said. "They see the most critical of incidents day after day and sometimes those things get super heavy and sometimes officers don't always know how to get rid of that stuff."
